Oops. I haven't posted since May, and here we are nearing the end of June. (By the way, I hate nearing the end of June. That means summer is 1/3 over for me. Boo.)
Anyway, school ended on June 1st, and we left on June 2nd for Disney World. What a fantastic trip! I think I have become one of those Disney addicts. Not so much that I'm going to redo my home decor in Minnie Mouse and Tinkerbell, but enough that I'm already planning our next trip.
In any case, here are some of my favorite iPhone images from the trip:
Unlike my last trip, I also took along my real camera. It, of course, rained from time to time, so my camera wasn't always with me. But when it was, I tried to make good use of it! Here are some of those shots:
What can I say? It was a magical trip! Case in point: look at the following picture and tell me that it doesn't make you feel like you've been transported to a "Magic Kingdom"!
But alas, we eventually had to leave and return home. Where there are no castles. Sigh.
That being said, there is no place like home, and I have been using my time to play with my little guy. We've gone on walks, gone swimming, run around the house, played board games...Phew! I'm tired just typing all that! And he has even done some artwork...of course, it's been while his Mommy was trying to do the same. But whatever! I'll never squelch his creativity!
Once he got distracted by other things toys, I was able to get some work done:
I painted a canvas green and used a brayer to give the paint texture. Temporarily glued a leaf to the canvas, sprayed with stone-textured paint, and voila!
I took the original shot with my iPhone and then played with it in different editing programs. It's nice to be able to do this on the fly. I can take my art photography with me!
And I've had time to work on several mixed media projects. The square ones are each the starts of series of images I intend to put together. I want to do more silhouette art, and I am already working on a second poem/stamp piece.
This is shaping up to be my most creatively productive summer on record. I can't wait to see how much I can accomplish over these three months. And I can't wait to share it with you!
So...how are you being creative this summer?
